Meetup at Lucky's on Friday Night

Since many of you live in Boston or will be coming into town on Friday, we've arranged to meet up on Friday night at Lucky's Lounge in Boston. This is an informal event and will be a cash bar. Since Friday nights at Lucky's get pretty busy, our dear friend Joe Elia has arranged to have some space reserved especially for us. If you are able to make it out on Friday night please plan on arriving between 8 and 9:30 because after 10pm there will be a line and we cannot guarantee that you will be allowed in. If you arrive before 9:30 and there is a line, please just politely inform the doorman that you are here with the Beck and Janiak party and they should let you in. Big thanks to Joe for setting this up for us!

Important Info For Guests

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Our wedding ceremony and reception is being held at TT the Bear's Place in Central Square, Cambridge. TT the Bear's is a rock club and there will be some of our favorite musicians playing at times throughout the evening. Though there is no traditional sit-down meal, a buffet barbecue dinner will be served.

What to wear to a wedding at a rock club?

While this is certainly no black tie affair, normal wedding attire is appropriate.

Hotel

We have a block of rooms reserved at Le Meridien Hotel in Central Square, Cambridge. The hotel is located about a block from TT the Bear's Place. In order to book your room at our discounted rate of $159/night please follow this link:

Gifts

We have registered at Crate & Barrel. Since we live in an uniquely Cantabridgian (e.g. small) apartment, we also appreciate gifts that take up less space.

We appreciate all the time, effort, and money that goes into attending a wedding. Truly your presence is the most important gift!

Marriage Equality & Beyond

We recognize that marriage is neither an attractive option for all individuals and communities, nor a cure-all to social inequality. We feel it is imperative to ensure all people access to the privileges that inhere in marriage, regardless of whether they choose a lifelong monogamous relationship. Marriage should not be necessary for obtaining health insurance or pensions, for securing the ability to parent one’s non-biological children and dependents, or for participating in a loved one’s medical care. Establishing a strong social safety net and legal structures that embrace all families and affective communities remain priorities in our politics. We vigorously oppose coercive marriage promotion regimes, particularly those that are delivered in the guise of sexuality education and those that are linked legislatively and rhetorically to the dismantling of the social safety net throughout the 1990s.

We also recognize that preventing couples of the same biological or socially recognized sex/gender from marrying constitutes a fundamental violation of civil rights as well as a purposeful attack on individuals. As a couple that has chosen marriage, we can only begin to imagine how painful it would be were we denied this right. Massachusetts was the first state in the country to recognize same-sex marriage. We have both campaigned vigorously against a proposed constitutional amendment that would have outlawed same-sex marriages and worked on campaigns to elect pro-equality state legislators, and we’ve won again and again.

We encourage all of you who live in Massachusetts to defend your constitution, your neighbors, your families, and yourselves. Visit www.massequality.org to get involved locally and to support activism in other states.
